Gold Nugget Rush: Hold & Win Slot Specs

RTP is a theoretical, long-run figure, not a promise for any single session. Read more in our guide to what RTP means.

Gold Rush Theme and Design

The theme sticks close to the gold mining days and is easy to follow. You get a mountain backdrop, wooden-framed reels and the usual mining tools. There are no over-the-top effects, but the features come with some nice animation, and the stacked mystery symbols give the base game a bit of life. It is a clean, solid design rather than a flashy one.

Symbols, Wilds and Mystery Symbols

The game runs on a 5-reel, 3-row grid with 25 fixed paylines. As a high-volatility slot, wins will not land all the time, but when they do they have the potential to hit big.

Wild symbols substitute for most other symbols, except the Bonus, Boost and Scatter. Mystery symbols appear stacked and turn into matching symbols before the spin starts, which can line up a solid payout.

Hold & Win, Mystery Bonus and Boost

The main feature is Hold & Win. You need either 6 Bonus symbols or a mix of 5 Bonus symbols and 1 Boost to trigger it. You then get 3 respins, and any new Bonus symbol that lands resets the count. The Boost can raise the value of the Bonus symbols.

A Mystery Bonus can also appear during Hold & Win, revealing Mini, Minor, Major or Mega prizes, or another Boost.

Free Spins, Gold Rush and Buy Feature

Landing 3 Scatters awards 8 Free Spins, and only high-paying symbols show up during that round. A Gold Rush mechanic can also trigger Hold & Win at random, even during Free Spins or the base game.

If you would rather not wait, the Buy Feature takes you straight into Hold & Win. Check that your casino offers it, as availability can differ between sites.

Who Gold Nugget Rush Suits

This is a solid pick for players who like high-risk, high-reward slots and a lot of features, from Boost mechanics to Mystery rewards and Free Spins. Compared with other Betsoft slots such as Coins of Zeus, it pushes its special features harder. It suits players who can sit through dry stretches; it is a weaker fit for low-stakes, low-risk play.
