We South Africans never shy away from a good jol but if online video slot game developer NoLimit City is hosting, it might be better to not go. Known for their super gritty and hardcore titles, this developer has managed to find a way to turn something as simple as going to the club into something far more sinister.
Packed full of the developer’s signature features and extras, you might find yourself going a little cross-eyed trying to decipher everything that’s going on through the flashing neon lights. Make sure you pack extra bottles of water so you can keep hydrated while busting out your killer dance moves.
Join us as we visit this underground rave and see what exactly is going on behind the DJ decks. Read on as we outline all of the bonus features, extras, mechanics, options, symbols, and more so that when you arrive on the scene, you already know what’s poppin’.
D-D-D Drop The Bass
It’s important to state right off the bat that this game contains a lot of flashing lights and moving images. If you suffer from photosensitive epilepsy or anything similar, it might be better to give this title a skip.
Stepping through the doors of the club you’ll immediately notice the sea of partiers bathed in colour-changing light. They’re jumping up and down, dancing to the beats and the melodies. You can almost make out their shouts and cheers through the thumping beats coming from DJ P5ychØ who stands on the top of the grid, spinning his records.
The audio is loud and in your face, coupled with the cramped background and flashing lights, the title emulates an underground rave pretty well. The sound effects struggle somewhat to make themselves heard through the loud music which is pretty accurate. If you pay close enough attention you will hear them though.
The overall quality of the animations in this game is pretty good. The crowd moves around, the DJ dances like a madman, and the movement of the symbols on winning spins helps tie everything together.
While this game isn’t what we normally expect from the developer, they’ve added their signature twist to it so that it makes sense when you come across it in NoLimit City’s slot library.
Who’s Going Out Tonight?
A rave wouldn’t be nearly as fun without the people that attend them. In this section, we’ll outline all of the symbols within the paytable as well as special icons that you’ll be seeing quite frequently. It’s always nice when you know the people at a party.
To start, we’ll cover the low-paying images. These are represented by various pieces of party paraphernalia. Expect to see a pair of headphones, lollipops, striped shades, a money gun, and a gold chain.
Now for the people that those belong to, the high-paying symbols. Four different people and the DJ make up the five symbols in this group. They each have their own unique look so you won’t be struggling trying to identify them as they land. The DJ is the highest paying common icon in the paytable.
A symbol saying “Drop The Bass” is the Scatter for this release. Hitting various numbers of these during a single spin will activate different effects depending on how many landed. We’ll cover those soon.
If two xWays symbols land on the same reel, the area between the two will be transformed into a stacked Wild. This stacked Wild can contain between 6 – 11 Wilds within it.
The Good Vibrations
The Rave is an online video slot game that is played on a grid with a 5-reel 3-row setup. There are 243+ ways to win, with win ways increasing when split symbols land. Wins are determined by matching symbols landing in adjacent reels starting from the leftmost reel. The theoretical return to player rating is around 96.09% with volatility being rated very high. Bets can range from 0.20 – 100 coins per spin with the highest achievable win being 41,500x the bet.
Time To Show Off
Hitting 2 Scatters during a single spin will transform them into Enhancer Cells. Enhancer Cells will land an xWays, xSplit, Wild, or high-paying symbol.
Landing 3 – 4 Scatters will award 7 or 8 Murder on the Dancefloor spins respectively. During these spins, 3 or 4 Enhancer Cells, depending on how many Scatters triggered the feature, are active for the course of the spins. If you hit an additional Scatter during this feature you will be awarded an additional spin and an additional Enhancer Cell will be added to the grid. Landing an extra Scatter after that will trigger God is a DJ spins. A multiplier will be applied to reels 2, 3, and 4.
There are three bonus features that can randomly activate during Murder on the Dancefloor spins and are guaranteed to activate during God is a DJ spins. Those features are:
- Mashup!: All high-paying symbols are turned into the highest paying icon.
- Crossfader: Turns all low-paying symbols into Wilds on randomly chosen reels from 2 – 4.
- Sidechain: This feature will link 2 – 5 reels together.
Landing 5 Scatters or upgrading Murder on the Dancefloor spins will trigger God is a DJ spins. During these spins, five Enhancer Cells will drop onto the grid. A multiplier will be added to reels 2, 3, and 4. You are guaranteed to get one of the three bonus features.
For an additional 20% of your bet, you can activate the xBet option. With this option toggled on, you are guaranteed to hit a Scatter on reel 2.
Hungover From The Night Before
Not as grim but still very much a NoLimit title, if you’re a fan of the developer try this game out for fun. If you end up liking it, keep an eye out for it the next time you’re scrolling through an online casino venue.
