Montecasino is a casino and entertainment complex in Johannesburg, owned by Tsogo Sun and designed to look like a Tuscan village. It has a casino, three Tsogo Sun hotels on site, the Teatro theatre, the Piazza, the Montecasino Bird Gardens and family attractions such as bowling and laser tag. It is open 24 hours a day.

About Montecasino
Montecasino is in Sandton, Johannesburg, in the heart of South Africa and near to where the original gold diggers first found their treasure. It is part of the Gauteng gaming scene (see our Gauteng online casinos guide).
The 24-hour “World at Play” development is designed to replicate an authentic Tuscan village. Montecasino opened on 30 November 2000. In May 2007 it expanded with the open-air Piazza and the award-winning theatre, the Teatro. Montecasino is owned by Tsogo Sun, which holds the casino licence.
Whether you live in Johannesburg or fly in to play and stay, its central location makes it convenient. It works for a night out, a day away from the office or a longer holiday.

- The Pivot at Montecasino is a vibrant area with the Southern Sun Hotel, a bar and lounge, a conference centre, a restaurant, an outdoor pool and a leisure area.

The Piazza and Dining
The Piazza is a large open-air space modelled on a typical Italian piazza. It hosts numerous restaurants, from fast food and coffee shops to wine bars and fine dining, covering a wide range of cuisines.
Teatro Theatre
The Teatro is Montecasino’s theatre. It attracts varied audiences with musicals, drama, comedy and other local and international performances.
Bird Gardens and Family Entertainment
The Montecasino Bird Gardens is good family entertainment, with colourful birds, mammals, reptiles and unusual animals from around the world.
Families can bowl at the ten pin bowling alley, play laser tag, or send the kids to the crèche. There are also cinemas and retail stores on site.
Pubs and Clubs
After dark there are pubs, clubs, comedy shows, dance venues and cabaret shows, plus theme nights and events.
Getting There
Out-of-town guests can fly into Oliver Tambo International Airport and take the Gautrain to Sandton. From there, arrange a shuttle, a ride-hailing app or a taxi to Montecasino.
