Early on it’s important to note that Red Tiger claims that a portion of the proceeds of this title will go to Big Cat Rescue to help them rehabilitate and care for big cats, which is fantastic. It does seem a little disingenuous however that they created a game around Joe Exotic first and now that part 2 of the documentary has been released they have created another one, but that’s neither here nor there.

The Sanctuary

The background of this title looks like a photograph taken from the Big Cat Rescue sanctuary which makes sense. A few pieces of the image have been edited to add animations, a branch will move about in the wind, flower petals will fall past the grid, and rays of sunlight beam down from the heavens.

The audio is alright, the music works well enough and so do the sound effects. It’s a little disappointing that there aren’t any recordings or sound clips of Carole herself as they would’ve enhanced the overall experience.

Moving on to the grid, it looks pretty good. There’s nice detail in the artwork that you could actually see this hanging in the sanctuary. Where it comes apart is in the messages that will occasionally appear above the reels. Messages like “Save the big cats!” or “Belong in the wild!” makes the game feel like it’s trying to guilt the player into playing beyond what they might have originally intended to.

Mechanically, it’s a pretty standard Red Tiger project that feels kind of soulless even though they’re attempting to do some good. Whenever this fundraiser of theirs ends, this game will struggle to be noticed in their expanding library of titles.

Cats & Kittens

Five symbols make up the low-paying variants. You’ll be seeing clubs, diamonds, hearts, spades, and a tiger paw appearing on the reels quite often. Wins that are comprised of the tiger paw are worth more than any of the others in this group.

Next up we have the high-paying icons. Five large felines make up this batch of symbols. You’ll want to keep an eye out for a lynx, cheetah, panther, leopard, and of course a tiger. The tiger is the most valuable icon of this group.

The Wild in this game is represented by a fully stacked white tiger. These Mega Wilds can land with either a x2, x, or a x7 multiplier attached to them. In addition to that, they will substitute for any other common icon in the game, allowing for larger wins to form or entirely new ones to be created.

Finally, we have the Scatter symbol. Easily recognisable since it is represented by Carole Baskin herself, landing three of these will trigger the bonus gameplay feature.

On The Sanctuary

Big Cat Rescue MegaWays is a cascading video slot game that is played on a grid consisting of 6-reels with varying rows per spin. In total, there are up to 117,649 ways to win with wins being determined by matching symbols landing in adjacent reels starting from the left to the right. The RTP for this game is around 95.75%, oddly low for a game that is donating proceeds. Bets can range from 0.20 – 10 coins per spin with the highest achievable win being 10,000x the bet.

Look Out For Carole

Each time a win occurs, the winning symbols will disappear and make space for new icons to fall in and take their spot. This cascading effect will continue until no new wins can be formed.

Landing 3 Carole Baskin Scatters will trigger the bonus gameplay feature. When this happens you will be taken to a separate screen with a big wheel that has two sections to it.
