Every South African knows that our country is one of the most diverse on the planet. It’s something that should be celebrated and shown off, that’s why we have Heritage Day on the 24th of September. On this day we are all encouraged to embrace our beliefs, cultures and traditions while learning about the cultures of those around us.
Springbok Casino has the same belief that our cultures should be celebrated so they have put together a special feature going through what makes each one of South Africa’s provinces so special and amazing. It would be a must read any day of the year but it’s made even more prominent being heritage month.
We’ll list a few of their points here but make sure you visit them and read the article for yourself to get a boost of national pride.
Our Nine Amazing Provinces
Their list begins with Limpopo, mentioning the vast wildlife that is prominent in the province. A sizable portion of the Kruger National Park resides in the province so it only makes sense to talk about one of our national treasures.
Rock art, museums and caves, Limpopo has it all and it’s all mentioned in their informative list. Learn more about this history rich area of South Africa by reading their full article.
Next up we’ll have a look at Gauteng, or “Place of Gold” in seSotho. One of the more urban and built up areas of the country, Gauteng plays host to many different people all coming together. This province houses the Apartheid Museum, a grim reminder of our dark past. The museum represents a stain in our country’s history but it’s necessary so that we don’t forget the past.
The Cradle of Humankind is located in this province and serves as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, meaning that it should be protected.
Last, but by no means least, on their list is KwaZulu-Natal. One of the most beautiful provinces we have (which is saying a lot because they’re all gorgeous) is home to Durban, one of the best tourist spots in the country. Placed along the east coast of the country the waters that grace those shores are warm and ripe for visitors.
Warm waters aren’t the province’s only attractions, more parks and wetlands are present in this province making it a must visit.
We highly recommend checking out the full article to read up on the other six provinces so you can get a full picture of our country’s sheer beauty and diversity.
